A fair dedicated entirely to glass means a room full of people who think about colour sorting, contamination and cullet quality all day – exactly the audience that matters for a glass sorting specialist.
PICVISA attended the 17th edition of Glassman, a fair specialised in glass recycling, held in Lyon, France, in September 2017.
Glassman brings together companies from across the glass recycling chain – from collection and processing through to the furnaces that turn recovered glass back into new containers. For PICVISA, whose ECOGLASS line is built around optical sorting for glass by colour and the removal of contaminants like ceramics and stones, fairs like this are a chance to see how the rest of the glass recycling chain is evolving, and to discuss directly with processors what level of purity and consistency their furnaces need from sorted cullet.
These conversations matter because the requirements at the furnace end of the chain directly shape what "good enough" sorting looks like at the processing end – and staying close to that conversation helps keep sorting technology aligned with what the rest of the glass recycling industry actually needs.
