PICVISA has been working on a prototype of the robotic arm at the heart of ECOPICK, its robotic sorting solution, with the launch of the finished product scheduled for the end of 2018.

At the prototype stage, the focus is on testing and refining how the robotic arm performs under real working conditions – how quickly and accurately it can pick objects identified by the system's vision, how it handles the variety of shapes and materials found on a real sorting line, and how it integrates with the rest of the equipment around it. Each of these factors directly affects how useful the finished robot will be once it's deployed.

As development continues towards the end-of-2018 launch, PICVISA will be sharing further updates on ECOPICK's progress – from prototype testing through to the version that will eventually be available to customers looking to bring robotic sorting into their plants.
