On July 13th, PICVISA received a visit from ECOEMBES, the non-profit organisation responsible for the recovery of packaging waste throughout Spain, who toured the company's Test Center pilot plant.

ECOEMBES coordinates packaging recovery at a national level, working with the sorting facilities that process the packaging collected through yellow containers across the country. A visit to the pilot plant gives ECOEMBES a direct view of how optical sorting technology performs on packaging materials – separating plastics, metals and cartons by type – which connects to the broader question of how much of what's collected nationally ends up genuinely recyclable.

Visits like this help keep PICVISA's sorting technology development aligned with the priorities of the organisation that, at a national level, is responsible for making sure packaging recovery in Spain keeps improving.
